Our family business has been serving the greater Gallatin Valley community since 1946! We are recognized as the leading fine furniture and floor covering store in the territory due to our unrivalled product selection and customer service. The business has grown throughout the years and is now proud to have its fourth generation family member to join the business. This is our story…
It was 1946, shortly after the conclusion of WWII, Don and Veronica DeCosse established Gallatin Valley Furniture at the 303 East Main Street location. In 1950 Edmund DeCosse, Don’s father joined the business. With hard work and customer satisfaction as their goal, the business began to thrive one customer at a time. Edmund was active with the business until his death in 1968.
In 1972 Jim DeCosse, the son of Don & Veronica, began his career in the furniture store followed by Don and Veronica's son-in-law and daughter, Dennis and Michelle Cattin, in 1975. With guidance from Don, each learned the fundamentals of the furniture & flooring business and the importance of customer service and satisfaction. It was 1974 when Gallatin Valley Furniture expanded it’s showroom from its downtown location to the current showroom on North 7th Avenue. With Jim's primary focus on furniture and Dennis's effort toward floor coverings, the team developed what is recognized as Montana's finest and most complete home furnishing store. Although Don DeCosse retired in 1985, he can still be found in the showroom from time to time greeting customers.
The business evolved again in 1990 when it expanded the showroom to 36,000 sq. ft. in order to allow for expansion of the floor covering business. A few years later we joined Carpet One Floor & Home, the world’s largest flooring covering retailer, enabling our business to expand our product selection at exceptional prices.
The day of the 60th anniversary celebration in 2006, Gallatin Valley Furniture Carpet One became a fourth generation business with Brian Cattin, Dennis and Michelle’s son, joining the team.
Today, each of the family members and more than 40 employees continue to provide the same level of service to our customers and guests that Don, Veronica, and Edmund established when we opened our doors decades ago. We are proud of our history and look to continue our tradition of providing quality furniture & floor coverings, superior service, customer satisfaction and value for decades to come.
We would like to thank each of our customers, repeat customers, former and current employees for helping us tell this story.
